Blue Charm

The old classic Blue Charm is as effective as even salmon flies like Jock Scott, Green Highlander and Sunray Shadow. For grilse and seatrout a small version like this a must-have in any flybox, and I know quite a few anglers who holds the Blue Charm as their very favorite salmon fly. It work just as well in large sizes to the very smallest of sizes. Late season one can even try this down to a size 14 or smaller. Here follows my version of the Blue Charm.

Blue Charm

Hook: Double salmon, any size.

Thread: Black

Tag: Small oval gold tinsel

Tail: Golden Pheasant crest

Ribbing: Flat silver tinsel

Body: Black floss

Hackle: Doctor blue/sky blue

Wings: Bronze mallard mixed with a few strands of teal
