This is basically a variation on the common Hare's Ear Nymph, and probably the one nymph I most often turn to whenever I need to go subsurface on trout, arctic char or grayling. It is tied rather sparse to resemble the slim profile of many of the swimming mayfly nymphs.



Hook: A standard nymph hook, size 12 to 16, with a gold beadhead

Thread: Fiery Brown or rusty brown Underbody: Lead or copper wire - Optional Tail: Fibers from a Partridge rump feather Ribbing: Fine gold wire Abdomen: Hare's ear dubbing Wingcase: A slip from a crow quill Thorax: Hare's ear dubbing Legs: Fibers from a Partridge rump feather
